Oh, and I have to mention.  The removal is intended to be done after wearing for a while, not so easy if you're taking them out the next day.

Once again, so sorry, everyone!  I am certainly not out to disappoint anyone.  I can only hope it will turn around somehow.  There are a ton of hair extension systems out there and we all have one or 2 reasons why we use one and 1 or 2 reasons why we don't use others, but I think, Delin, you are really p-----ed off right now and I don't blame you!  All that work down the drain because of a stirring issue... I don't even know what to say....

So I was turning this thing around in my head all night.  It was disturbing me that if there was no seperation of the bond as you stated, Delin, this cannot be a stirring issue.  Even when I stirred less in the past I never lost my extensions like that!

The only time I lost extensions after a wash was in early test days.  I was folding and forming them (like a glue method) as the stuff dried, but nope, this just didn't work.  I then devoloped that "seeping" method.  No problems since.  And after a week or so, I play with my bonds all the time, folding in a bond I feel is "flat," or pinching and rolling the tops when the bond lets me.  But this is long after they are dry.

The only other thing I can come up with is something I read in the updated instructions this morning.  They state,

WAX setting or hotter is appropriate for your bond, any cooler and you won't create a secure bond.

Now, you may have had this on the WAX setting, but if there are any variations in the heaters ability to maintain the temp, this may have been too cool.  Possibly it was hot enough for the first bonds you were making (thus why those are still secure) but then cooled as you stirred and dipped the extensions and the heater needed to be turned up.

I just spoke with a successful user this week (she let me know it took some practice) and she mentioned she needed to turn her heater quite high to reach the correct temp to get the "seeping" to happen.  I turn mine up and down throughout application and didn't realize I was doing this by "instinct."

I am determined to resolve these issues as best and quickly as I can so these things aren't happening.  I so appreciate the boards and their ability to bring these issues to the surface.  I am positive I would not have gained so much valuable information otherwise and this will definately benefit future users.

I may have not had a successful first install, but I have TREMENDOUS respect for this person's business ethics.  I hope she doesn't mind me sharing her email.

Diana,

I feel like this confirms my next message to you. The bond was not hot enough. And because these issues are still coming up I am constantly adjusting the instructions so I'm not sure what yours said about the heater temp.

I accept full responsibility for what happened to you and understand if you don't want to attempt it again. I know when I was creating this, it was exhausting! Putting them in and taking them out constantly just to test. I'm certainly happy I can wear them for 8 weeks at a time now.

Will you want to try again or send your system back?

Yah, I know, I can remember when life before hair extensions sure didn't involve tossing a mannequin head around on a Friday night :) (I had to post after you...in defense, I guess. I don't want anyone to think I'm out to harm them in any way! But I still take full responsibility for what happened to you! It has just taken a little time for these issues to come to light.)

Best regards,

Customer Care
Tiffany Twist HOLLYWOOD HAIR™

And I do agree. The bonded hair is stuck together great...just not to my hair which means it didn't seep in. As we speak I am starting over today and giving it one more shot...with the setting on high instead of wax.

my kit is on its way, and thank you for your experience delin
everything's definately a learning curve...a lot of people love microrings but when i used them last year i got them too close to my scalp and my head hurt for the month i had them in, even though i thought i had followed every instruction i came upon for them
i think with several of us about to use these we'll all figure out the little tricks to it and we'll all be doin the tiffany twist

delin,

The same thing happened to me the first time I tried this system (although I only put in 1 row). I found out that the wax setting was too low & once I put the heater on the hottest setting, it worked after that. My bonds stay in very tight until I want them out.
I think any new system will be trial & error but I urge you to try again. If you like to do individuals, this system is really fantastic.

OK;  I got bucked off but got back on again this morning.  This time I put the pot on the highest setting.  The bonding agent was definitely more runny and they feel different so hopefully that was the issue...because everything else is great...including Tiffany (sorry if that isn't your name).  To be on the same side I only did the sides and weft/protack the back.   Great idea to do one row first...why didn't I think of that?

Sorry you had a problem with the bonds, Delin... but thank you for sharing the "process" you've gone through with Tiffany to remedy it. I continue to be impressed by the sincerity of Tiffany's concern for her product and her customers. I think we're all experiencing a learning curve with this new method. Now we know now that the bonding agent needs to be heated quite a bit to make a good bond. Delin, keep us posted, okay? And thank you, Tiffany, for caring so much about our success in using your product.

Tiffany.  I'd just like to applaud you.  You sound exactly like me when I started out doing the hair extension installs.  I was devasted if something went wrong and would lose sleep till it was rectified.  But believe me, being the way you are with people, if there are problems you don't lie about it and blame it on other people, you do your best to sort it out and that speaks volumes.  I am 100% sure that your business will do well with such an honest and good person running it x

Ok ladies! We are on install #2 with the tembond (wore the first for 3 weeks then wanted to try a funky pink color mixed in).

I can see these holding for at least six weeks with no probs :)

Thanks for all the lovely compliments, I would gladly be a hairmodel for a lifetime supply of tembond in all colors of the rainbow for me and my clients!

I have been bolder in my testing of the limits of the tembond, I have blowdried on warm and tugged at them quite a bit without incident.  I plan on going swimming in them when DH and I visit L.A. next week.

I use my little melting pot set to HOT until the entire tembond cake is melted and then I lower the setting to WAX to apply without too many drips.

And yes, I KNOW you love the POOKS <3

pooks, you are a hootLOL. I love the blonde and pink. I've always liked those colors together. What are you going to try next, purple maybe? What about a baby blue?
Have you tried flat ironing or electric curling them? Could you do a little experiment on one or two and see how much of that kinda heat they can take?
I KNOW you didn't think we were finished with youBig%20smile. That's why we TRULY do loove the pooks!!!LOL

Thanks, Amanda, for that, your post is very encouraging!

It is also great to hear of another successful application.  Love the colors, pooks!  And your post confirms to me these heaters vary in their temperatures.  I see now it's crucial to advise a bond "test" before doing a whole head!

I also wanted to let you all know that, due to high demand, we have added a package with "Just the Basics" on, http://www.tiffanytwist.com/hair/product.htm.  This is just a heater, 1 or so applications of bond, and instructions for $69, nothing fancy here, just what you'll need to try the TemBond System if you are interested.  (I believe this will be a limited time thing, but it should be up through the summer.)

Hi all, Tiffany.

I found your website about a week ago and was very intrigued by your product. Currently, I have great lengths extentions in and they have been in now since Feb!. That's coming up on 4 months. They need to be removed, however like just about everyone has complained.......my hair is a mess in the sense I feel I have a lot of breakage and damage from the regular extentions. ( I had them professionally done in a salon). I want something that WON'T damage my hair and I do take great care of my hair extentions.

Do you ship to Canada Tiffany?
I sure hope you do!

Next question, how long should I wait after having my current extentions removed before starting putting in your system? Is there a general rule for a "break". I am concerned with breakage.

Thanks , I hope to order soon.

AvianArtist,

Thanks for your questions, I'll be happy to help where I can.

My product is quite interesting and different.  Although I created it as sort of a "mock" of those higher cost bonding methods such as the ones you are wearing, it has surprised me that girls are preferring this method for so many reasons.

I have never worn fusion or used glue myself because it just didn't seem right to me.  I wore pinch braids fo a while but the cost and time was way too crazy.  Since I created my own gentle, but secure, bond, and began to share it, the response is overwhelming from the girls who get it.  They tell me how comfortable and lightweight this is compared to stick glue, nail glue, wefts, fusion... and the first time I read an e-mail from a girl who said I saved her $1000,  I about fell off my chair...that is sooo much money!

Anyway, I think I went off track there, it's been a loooong day :)

Yes to Canada.

About the extension "time out" (break doesn't seem like a good word when talking hair extensions...)   I would get the hair out and see what's happening.  See if your hair needs a bit of TLC, treatments, etc., then decide.  See if your hair is breaking at all.  My process is gentle and I've been wearing them straight for about 2 1/2 years just taking a day in between to really scrub my scalp, then I put them back in (the attachment point changes each time because my hair has grown out.)

Possibly there are girls on this board who have worn your type of extensions and know if there is a general "break" rule and can help you with that.  I don't worry about recommending that with my system, and many users seem to feel my process is as safe as I do,  but I'm not sure if there is something you can, or should, do to stop any damage that may have been done with the system you are wearing?

ANYONE??

(I know I've never been able to do anything to stop the breakage in my hair from bleaching...although I spend a lot of money trying...)

Hope some of that helps and please let me know anytime you have more questions, I am happy to answer!

I have a question Smile

What is the shortest amount of time after installing that they can be removed?  This would be, if someone would put them in and then for some reason decided they needed to take them out asap.  Is there an amt of time they have to wait for the bonds to be able to be broken and crumbled?

Also, have you considered trying to make your bonding stuff transparent instead of colored?  Just curious Embarrassed

The bonds could be taken out at anytime although they get easier to crumble after a few washings and maybe a week or more of wear.  If you had to remove them immediately after putting them in, a hot hairdryer would work well.

Not really.  I've worked long and hard to get the bond where it's at.  Although I haven't considered changing anything at this point, it's a good idea if I ever have enough energy to start "dabbling" again :)
