I think you we might get tainted results posting your question on the long hair support group.
Personally, I like good looking hair, I like to see different, up to date, trendy styles so that usually means cutting, thus my preference for shorter hair. Great hair to me is great hair long or short. You seem to have great hair but many women with long hair only have long hair...if that makes sense.

Thank you for your responce. Is there another forum you think would be better to post this question in ?
I also do understand what you mean when you say. Some women just have long hair. I take great pride and care in my hair. I know not all women do. I have seen many women with what I call "Dead hair". No shine, no body, no bounce, no up keep at all. Just lies there - Dead.
I would think posting your question in the general section would get it the greatest number of views. However, be forwarned most people come to this site becuse the have strong than normal opinions about hair.

Hi DeltaGirl. I'm not a man -- obviously. I think you'll get a wide variety of opinions because beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I tend to think that men like petite women with long hair and large breasts. But I recognize that that view is skewed by my own experiences. Of course the men I've dated have those preferences -- that's why they're dating me. The men who like short hair or small breasts, statuesque proportions, etc. (basically all the things that I'm not) wouldn't be attracted to my physical appearance.
For instance, I tend to be attracted to me who are tall and kind of skinny. (I also find receding hairlines attractive.) That doesn't mean that all women prefer that look. Lots of women love really muscular men. Chacun son gout!
P.S. As I've gotten older, I've started trying not to be as superficial as I used to be. (I don't pretend that I've been totally successful in this.) I've dated some men who don't match my physical ideal. Once I take the time to get to know them, I often find a personality or sense of humour that really appeals to me. I fell in love and had a 3 year relationship with a man who was 5'8" (go figure.) :-)
P.P.S. DeltaGirl, did you get your highlights yet? You'll have to post a picture once you get them done.

I really don't know, before I started growing my own hair, I rarely noticed differences in length between most women, unless it was super long.
Nowadays the hair is the first thing I notice about a woman, which is a positive thing. While I rarely if ever, classifed a woman's attractiveness by the size of her bust. It was more to do with how attractive her face was, and the confidence they project.
In answering your question, I find woman with long hair to be very attractive(BSl or longer), but not to the exclusion of women with short(Shoulder length or shorter). I do not like seeing people with dead hair, like was mentioned on one of the replies. I see plenty of women that could stand to take better care of their hair, or stop dying it, or bleeching, highlighting etc. Im talking about people who dye their hair several times, and fail to realize the damage they are doing to it.
Like I said this is not a easy question, a woman's appeal is more than just her hair. I hope I didn't offend any of you, I'm just telling you reality.

Lots of us do. I certainly do. I also like neat bobs (cut one length, tastefully angled or with at most moderate bangs/layers, not choppy ones) too, but don't really like real short hair, though some women can look good even like that (eg. Marissa Tomei). However, if a woman has nice long hair such as in your avatar, I tend to hope she won't cut it!

Thanks for the responce. Just like you, I am not a man either (Thank Goodness - No disrespect meant guys). I think you are right. Most men seem to like smaller women with long hair and big boobs.
Like you, The guys I have dated all have told me that the first thing that attracted them to me was, my long hair. They all said at one time or another, my hair was the first thing they spotted.
If a guy likes longer hair.. and you have longer hair you would be more likely to be hit on by him. Like wise a man who was attracted to short haired girls would be unlikely to get the chance to tell you how nice you long hair was.. just a thought. Of course there are always the ones you convernt after seeing you...lol

Ok - Most us gal's seem to think that most men like a woman to have long hair. At least down to the bra line. Is that true ?
Do men really like a woman to have long hair ? Do most men find a woman with long hair more attractive ?
Be honest, and tell us the truth.
Susan
Hi Susan,
For me, yes, yes and yes. Surprise? From what I know, most men prefer long hair on women. I have known a few guys who prefer short, and one who liked only the extremes (the more extreme the better - short or long), most guys prefer long. There you have it -- my own unscientific answer.
Along the lines of what Hal suggests, health & condition of the hair matters, too. BSL hair that is soft, shiny, and relatively free of damage is more appealing than longer hair that is dull and damaged with splits or over-processed with excessive (strong) chemical treatments. Although I differ with Hal in that I think almost all men (whatever length they prefer) don't care about whether a woman's hair is trendy. These days, trendy hair is very layered, and IMO a little layering can be okay or even "good," but too much is a bad thing (Ashlee Simpson is my personal poster child for too much layering).
Oh, and Juliana, not all men are hung up on women having very large breasts. You'd be surprised. I just think that there is a societal impression that that is the case, and (oddly) it seems to be "safe" for society to promote that idea.
And some aspects of women's appearances are more or less important than others, depending on the man.
And to Hal -- "heh heh" to your last comment.

Hi Dave. I agree that not all men are hung up on breast size and I'm glad this is true. I was just speaking from personal experience (i.e. men who have dated me). In my opinion, the most beautiful quality a person can have is confidence and a positive spirit.
As for Ashlee Simpson's hair -- it's disastrous. Has anyone else noticed Shania Twain's new haircut? Layering gone mad. It's basically a mullet. I think I had something similar in 1982.

I think that you would definitely be right in thinking that the majority of the male population do have a preference towards girls with long hair.
I have no hesitation in admitting that I am one of them, for me the sight of seeing a woman with well cared for long hair bouncing around as she walks is almost breath-taking. And of course, if you are lucky enough to be the guy who gets to be close with such a girl and to pamper and play with her hair (very gently of course), then well......mmmmmmmmmm lucky guy!
From your progile picture Susan, it appears to me that you have absolutely stunningly beautiful hair and I really hope you keep it long, because there is no doubt that you will not only catch the eye of most men, but have them turning their heads and watching you walk by....:)
Best wishes,
John

Hi Susan. Just wondering if you've highlighted your hair yet? Are you still planning on doing it? I did mine last week. (I highlighted about 95% of my hair, so it's more of an all-over blonde.) I used L'Oreal Creme Lights and it was really gentle. I then toned it with Born Blonde Winsome Wheat (because I thought I looked like a bit of a banana head). I love the colour now. My hair looks and feels as healthy as it did before I processed it and I feel like a new woman.

For me, long hair, any color, is the most beautiful accessory most women can wear. I think about 90% of women look best with well-groomed LONG hair. Layers are OK sometimes, but I never prefer them. The longer the better! I *like* shorter hairdos, including bobs and pixies, on some women, but when a lady with lovely flowing hair cuts it into a shorter style, even a nice one, I''m disappointed to see it. Yes, a few women just don''t have a flair for long hair, or have extremely thin locks, and in those rare cases I prefer short. I like interesting faces, pretty voices and feminine gaits, but aside from that, other facets matter little to me. I could not care less about breast size or "perfect" physiques. And your hair looks super, Deltagirl! Best, Bob

Aww. Thanks so much for the compliment. I'm so used to seeing myself with dark hair. It's only been blonde for a week and a half so it still freaks me out sometimes. I spent the first week obsessing over whether or not it was too yellow. I'm finally getting used to it (and loving it too).

Susan, I agree with Hal that posting this on the long hair message board means you're more likely to get answers from men who like long hair. Posting on any other message board on this forum, I think you'll probably get more men with a short hair preference than you would otherwise. Most men aren't interested enough in hair to post on a hair message board.
Men with a short hair preference are in the minority and they seem to express it much more vociferously than men with a long hair preference. There are more sights for men with a short hair preference on the web.
So, I don't think the Internet is the best place for the survey. My opinion of men is that you'll get: (in order of most to least)
1) "I like it long. Keep it long. Don't cut it short. If you want to take off a few inches, that's fine, but don't expect me to notice."
2) "Whatever. It's your hair. I don't care. Please don't ask me to care."
3) "I love long hair. I enjoy playing with my girlfriend's hair. A woman with long hair immediately attracts me."
4) "Short hair is sexier. Cut it. Cut it. Cut it."
I don't know the percentages of each guy, but I'd guess that number 4 is less than 10% of all men. I prefer short hair and don't find many guys who agree with me.
For guys who are attracted to hair, gorgeous hair like in your avatare, long or short, is very sexy. Even if a guy appreciates short hair, he'll appreciate beautiful long hair. I agree that a guy who is into long hair is more likely to be attracted to you, but I wouldn't discount a guy who is into short hair. He'll just ask you to cut it at some point.
