have dirty blond/brown hair, level 4 or 5 natural, have been highlighting for years to light blonde.

decided to try red as suggested at a hairshow. colorist had me flaming red, on the orange side, then toned with chestnut which was too hard/harsh. I pretty fair skinned, gray/green eyes with pinky/peach undertoned skin. I look better in a true red/blue based red lipstick, not orangy, nor rusty, and not stong wine/burgundys. Some pinks look nice too. Have had color retouched once to a Wella dark auburn, and had highlights of blonde put in the crown to lighten.

Dilema: what exact shade of red is noticeable and nice with my skin? Tried on wigs...red brown is nice not too dark. Anyone recommend a color? My dark Auburn is fading. I also like the fringe around the neck and under side darker.

They guy at the hair show gave me note: a 5 or 6 CR and 5 Rich Brunette for the lower parts of the hair not touched by the sun. Is CR copper red, and what color is that exactly in lamen's terms?

Thank-you thank-you

My skin and eyes are pretty much the same as your description. I can't stand to wear very orange reds, either. But I do like myself in a very dark red, like kind of burgundy or cranberry, and I like myself in kind of a plum, too. . . but my hair is darker, so it probably looks less strange on me. . . *shrugs*
Anyway, definitely run away from anything even resembling orange if your skin is pinkish. If you're not into flashy shades like I am, it's probably best to stay with dark auburns if you wanna do red, maybe a medium auburn up top with a darker one underneath if you like it darker on bottom. Unfortunately, I don't know salon shade numbers to give any recommendations, but there are plenty of people here who could.
More awesome than a manatee!
