Here's a list of some basic links for beginners. This is not at all definitive by any means, but should offer some general guidelines for those who are trying to figure out various methods, suppliers, and such. Please feel free to add more links or comments.

I've included the links of sellers and extensionists that seem to be reputable, but I'm not affiliated with them, and I can't vouch for the quality of their products or services. ***Please check other threads or post questions before you spend your money on anything.*** The gallery section is especially small, because I don't want to promote anyone I don't have firsthand experience with, but I thought the photos at these might be helpful.

damn girl....you've been BUSY! Thank You for all the effort you put into this board.

By the way is there anyway that we could "pin" that to the top of the board like they do on quinnsters site?

I doubt it, Sherrie. I think only the Admin. can, and I don't think this forum is really "admin-d," as it were, so probably not. Either way, I think we can kick it back up when people need some basic info. (including your "sandwich" weft technique).

I feel like so many people are stopping by now (which is great!), but if they don't have access to the basic info, they could read some of the other threads and get the wrong impression about what they should use and then--disaster! I also gave a basic overview of various kinds of extensions on the "Bridget" thread, which you may want to add to, particularly because I didn't include much on wefts at all....

Hey Jenny, I was so excited that I was going to be able to buy my own starter kit so I could do my own maintenance on my Hairloc's,however, every site that you suggested, say's in small print that you have to be a licensed beautician and they don't sell to the public. Do you have any other suggestions?? Thanks for all your help, I know everybody really appreciates all the time you take to inform us all.

Lisa: Again, all you need to do is order the extendtube kit from hairpiece.com: http://www.hairpiece.com/product.asp?pf_id=APE151 They absolutely sell to the public, and if you've seen notices about having to be a stylist to get supplies (although I don't see one on that page), it's probably there for insurance purposes because they don't want to be responsible if something goes wrong. Again, they sell to anyone; I've ordered from them many times, and I'm not a stylist. All of the product links I've provided above are available for home use (except perhaps ProStyles synthetic hair--the jury's still out on that one). Good luck!

Thanks--and right back at 'ya. You've both contributed a great deal to these boards; I've certainly learned a lot by reading your posts.

By the way, let me know if there are any links you'd like to add to the above post (you can BM me). I think I'm the only one who can edit the original list because I wrote it, so I'd be happy to add more links. Otherwise, they can obviously be added to the rest of the thread.

I must say, I wish we could organize this board a bit more like Quinn's--by subject and with stickies when necessary--but I guess we'll figure it out as we go.

:)

Thanks, Bridget. I'm glad you're finding it useful. I posted this information because I believe very strongly that people need to be armed with a lot of specific information before they get extensions. It's not a haircut or an updo--it's a big, costly decision that, all too often, can result in disaster. As consumers (and also for the stylists here), it's critical that we know as much as possible; otherwise, we're just at the mercy of the hair companies (who always say their product is the best for every client). I learned this the hard way, but hopefully, if they have access to the information they need, others can avoid some of what I went through.

WOW!!! Thank you Jenny. You are like an ambassador to the extension world! This has been a tremendous help. I''ve spent hours researching and haven''t come across anything as usefull as these links. I had considered trainind with GL, Cinderella, Eurolocs only because that was all I thought exsisted. However, I know realize it''s not as profitable to use these systems due to the high cost of hair. With that said...I am not knocking any of the above companies as I''m sure they are good for some.
Bridget...I too am in Ohio and certification for extensions are not required. Although, certification (basically a piece of paper to hang on the wall) seems to make you more reputable and legit.
And Finally..... KIM LET IT GO!!!!! Obviously your the only person not benefiting from this site.
Istarted a new thread NEW TO EXTENSIONS

I am a trainee hair extension technician in London UK and I am at present learning all about the trade so have found this very usefull to use to swat up on at home so I can go into work and really impress. I'm so loving this site and all you girls are sooo kewl for being so open about sharing your tips n stuff.

Gina, Im not sure if I understood your post about certification for extensions in Ohio. But you do have to have a license. Or did you mean certification in a particular method/brand isnt required?
