Hi,

I was just reading about the extreme makeovers that two women are undergoing for reality TV and the thought was horrible to me. Am I crazy or would you let a bunch of plastic surgeons cut you up for national viewing pleasure?

Saw the show on last night. It was pretty amazing. These people aren't doing it for tv, they are doing it for themselves. They want to improve their looks.

Don't forget they are also getting it for free. When you don't have to pay for it, you'd be surprised what the American public will do.

Extreme makeovers, especially makeup and hair, have always fascinated me for some reason. I like the change, the different look. Maybe that is I like to change my hairstyle, clothing, jewelry; to get a different look.

I would NEVER get plastic surgery...I don't even think I would if I were in a car crash. If that's the way I am meant to be then I can accept that. I just think it is way to superficial to get your boobs or nose or thighs done...On tv it seems down right ridiculous. It proves that society appears to be based on looks and looks alone. i hate that. i wish that people would just look at me and say "There goes Becky. She is a beautiful person and hey! So am I! Just the way I am...." Instead of "Ther goes Becky...Gawd could she have put more bows in her hair? She looks so weird! Omigosh! I think I am sooo fat! i hate my thighs!" I just don't see why we can't love ourselves...and reality tv shows are tacky...They suggest this lameness about our lives...no wonder people scoff at Americans...They turn on the tv and see us as superficial beings...Instead of who we really are. Oh and if reality is caring about how you look so much that it means that when you have the tiniest bump you HAVe to get it removed, then I guess I am not real and that I live in the Twilight Zone or something. Sorry if I offended anyone. I just have strong opinions and I think we should all love ourselves. If we don't...How can there ever be peace in OUR world?

wonderful" -Annette Funicello

I actually have to agree with you. I don't believe that having your face or body altered is a good thing. It just proves that you lack self-worth. Even if you arent the prettiest person in the world, people are attracted to confidence. To show this you don't need a new face. You need to believe in yourself. I guess I can understand if you've possibly had an accident where your face was altered. Maybe then it would be ok to alter....but just back to its original state. It's even ok if you were born with a disfigurment, but changing it just because you want to....i dont think i will ever believe that is right. Because first you have to ask yourself.....who are you doing this for? are you really doing this for yourself, or because you want the world to see you as "beautiful" according to ITS guidelines? and who's to say what "beautiful" really is? im a person who tends to believe that beauty comes from within....not from the outside.
