My brother is having problems with receding hairline, and I heard of the use of basil oil. Does anyone else know of this?

Basil oil mixed with a good carrier oil like jojoba or almond oil...you NEVER want to use Basil straight on the skin or scalp because it is too strong and will burn or sting....is a good massage oil for scalps that have hair loss issues BUT only if the hair loss is related to temporary conditions such as stress, nutritional deficiences, hormonal conditioners...etc.

It will probably not work as well for a receding hairline which is usually related to genetics and hereditary issues.

What does help slow or stop receding hairlines for both men and women is Propecia...which is a prescription drug only available through a medical practioner.

There are pros and cons to Propecia. It has a high success rate of stopping or slowing hair loss and receding hairlines BUT it may or may not help grow hair back. It definitely may have side effects for young men and women that are still planning to reproduce. You should always consider the long range impact of any hair loss drugs with regard to having children.

However, a good physician should be able to help you with your questions and to make the appropriate choices.

Rogaine is the ONLY FDA approved drug right now for hair loss but Propecia which came from Finasteride is also available when prescribed by a doctor.

I do know several men that have taken Propecia for years with really great results.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,
Karen

most all plant residues are acidic at the 2-4 level on a ph scale. first, you need to use a shampoo that maintains a 4.5-5.5 ph. then use a conditioner that seals properly, any KMS or Nexxus product for normal or to help dry hair. then when you shampoo everyday (its important!) you must massage the scalp well. fast and slow, using firm and med., and soft force. also go out and buy a hand-held body massager and switch the rubber pads to the soft ones. then ,by holding the portion of the massager just above the pads use a little force so as to move the scalp back and forth, not bang up and down on the head and massage your head at night just before bed and in the mourning when you wake up. you see circulation and relaxed muscles are very imporant to growing and maintaining healthy hair. its like a personal workout program for your head. and its very important!!! if you want to have it, you have to work for it, but its FREE!! most hair products are a scam. the soaps are to strong and will dry hair. and most conditioners and styling products have a high amount of plastics or plastic derived ingredients. cleansing, moisturizing,& temporarally sealing the hair everyday is necessary!
