I know this will bring me a lot of flack but here goes. I don't really understand why she would mess with her blond hair and length at this time. She made a fortune being the "DUMB/SMART" blonde in her first movie. As we know the second movie was not a barn burner. Of course she is great looking and very cute but IMO not the greatest actress in the world. She should play it to the hilt before her 15 min of fame is gone. Look at Pamela Anderson and a some others. IMO if you have a good thing going milk it for all it's worth. They are very smart and good looking and playing it for all it's worth.

1. She was paid a lot of money to have dark hair for a role (like Charlize Theron in Aeon Flux)
2. She wanted a change...
I have a feeling that her 15 minutes is not up...take Sandra Bullock for example, she hasn't really made a good movie yet (please don't consider Speed or Demolition Man good), yet her 15 minutes is far from up....Reese has made several critically aclaimed movies over her career, she will be around for a long time.

"Legally Blond" was her 19th movie, not her first. And it made her a star. She cut her hair short for her next movie, "Sweet Home Alabama." That cut got raves and a lot of women brought her picture into their stylist. The film did even better at the box office than "Legally Blond." She made "Legally Blond 2" and that film did almost the same business as "Legally Blond" ($89 million vs. $95 million).
She's had a long career, getting raves for diverse roles in "Pleasantville," "Election," "The Man in the Moon," and "American Psycho." She's used her box office clout to make two art films, "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Vanity Fair." She has more commercial films lined up. She's hardly a one trick pony and has shown she can do her hair more than one way and appeal to audiences.
Reese on being a brunette:
"Changing was kinda scary. I haven't had my hair a different color in ten years."

Yup. She's currently portraying June Carter Cash in a Johnny Cash bio-pic. So that's the reason for the change.
Even given that, I like the color (big surprise there) and the style. Brings out her blue eyes and the style helps hide the fact that she has sort of an oddly shaped forehead. I hope she keeps it for a while after the film wraps.

Wow, That is a shocking transformation that will take a while to get use to. I personally don't think black hair looks good on her, but in her new movie role you won't think of her as that girl from legally blonde (which is good).
I have to say that I was shocked when I first saw Reese's picture, but now that I've gotten used to it I really like it. It's much better than the brunette hue she sported in the forgetable movie "Overnight Delivery" (with Paul Rudd, the actor who played Phoebe's husband on "Friends.") This shade has much more dimension and the cut is great. I don't care what color most people (including celebrities) dye their hair, but when I had heard she had dyed her hair brown I was a little disappointed because she's got this amazing natural blonde hair. It's like if Elizabeth Taylor had gone blonde back in the early days of her career. That was way before my time but I still think she had beautiful raven black hair. Certain people you think could stand a change, and other people it's almost like, why mess with a good thing. I didn't really like her hair in "Legally Blonde" which was dyed a different shade to fit the so-called California blonde ideal. All in all, I think she looks good either way, which is a hard thing to pull off because a lot of people can't make such a drastic transition in either direction (from dark to light haired or vice versa) without looking unnatural.
The blonde she wears now is not her natural color. Her real color is a dark blonde almost brown, she has been bleaching it for years to keep it blonde because she was proud to be a blonde. I like her new dark hair and also think she looks prettier with the shorter hair, although I would not turn her away if she had long hair. I also hope she keeps it dark for awhile, just because she was so proud of her blonde hair and said once that she would never go dark again, and now here she is a burnett, and boy does she look hot with her new color, better then with her way to light blonde hair.
