Anyone have any suggestions... Was blonde (colored) and tried to go back to natural color which was medium to light brown and ended up with dark, dark almost black hair. Not sure what to do to lighten hair without causing serious damage as hair is already severley processed!!!
HELP!!!!

Melanie,
Black hair almost never strips out. You might just have to wait until it grows out the damaged area then cut it off. Hope I was some help.

Melanie, I have been in your shoes before. You need to go to a professional and let them take it from there. I tried the same thing as you and each time I tried to lighten the darker color, I ended up with Orange hair. I had to bite the bullet and go to a color specialist to help me get a natural looking color. It was bad on the hair, but now I am just doing a highlight/lowlight every 3 months, so my hair isn`t getting near as many chemicals as it was when I was experimenting at home. Also my hair looks much better with some TLC.

Because bleach opens the cuticle and makes the hair porous when you put a darker color on bleached hair, the hair will absorb the color too quickly making the hair darker than you want. I would suggest that you try washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo, such as those made by Neutrogena or Bumble and Bumble once a week. Gruadually the color should lighten, If you still feel your hair is too dark, you can try adding some highlights. However, never try to bleach out the color from all of your hair, your hair will be completely destroyed.

Hey! I have mousey brown hair I would love to dye it black but I`m scared of the dye not coming out and being left with disators hair (I don`t want 2 end up cutting some off) and so do u people think that a semi-permanent black hair dye that lasts about a month and is applied every month or so would work?
Please help!

I`ve done the same thing before where I tried to dye my hair a little darker & it turned jet black. HORRIBLE!! I looked like Marilyn Manson!! It was pretty scary. But, my fiance`s mom is a hair stylist & she suggested I use a product that strips the color from the hair..and depending on how long you keep it in, that`s how much you lighten it. I can`t remember the name (might be from Sally Beauty Supply..? but any salon should have it) but it comes in a little packet that you mix with warm water. Wait `til it forms into a gel & then saturate the hair. It says it takes the build-up out of your hair (which works good about a week after a perm) but it also lightens your hair.

About the semi-perm dye, that shouldn`t be a problem because it`s only made to last through a certain amount of shampoos. It will eventually wash out whereas permanent you`re stuck with it until you either let it grow out & cut it, or get a color-correction.
