Hey tony, what was your original hair colour anyway?
You can really go light blonde it one process.
Were going platinum blonde or light yellow blonde?
If so you have to purchase a bleaching kit.
If you want to make your life a heck a lot easier, find a good salon to do it

One thing that everybody who wants to bleach their hair must understand..........

Everyone who is naturally darker than blonde has blue, (yes, blue), red and yellow pigment in some quantity in their hair.

The first pigment to come out is the blue. That leaves...

you guessed it. Red and Yellow=Orange.

Your didn't turn Orange, but the process has exposed the Orange that exists.

It is a natural part of the process, and in fact it is one of the hardest stages to get by.

Many DIY bleachers see the Orange, panic, and rinse it off. Don't.

Some hints for bleaching hair.

1. The 1/2" to 3/4" inch closest to your scalp will process faster because of the heat from your scalp. If you have someone helping you that has some dexterity, get them to try to apply it to the rest of the hair shaft first. Then, as the color gets closer to the shade you want, apply it to the root area. This helps for two reasons. a) it evens out the color, and b) it keeps the bleach off your scalp which makes it a lot more comfortable when you have to leave it on for a long time.

2. Wrap a loose fitting plastic cap over your hair. This keeps the bleach moist. As long as it is moist, it is working.

3. Resist the temptation to rinse it off to see how its doing then reapply. When the bleach is on, your hair is at its most vulnerable, and the more you work it by combing and reapplying, the more damage you are going to do to it.

Happy Bleaching.

After you bleach you have to apply an actual dye of some sort to achieve the desired colour.

Hi, I just had a question? I have long dark brown hair and I bleached my hair with a Frost Kit & you guessed it! I'm at that orange stage. My question is should I just bleach again or use Born Blonde Hair stripper and than a Toner? I also wonder if you should wet hair with these over the counter products before applying even though it says not to?( Maybe this would help distribute bleach better?) Any help would be appreciated. I went blonde along time ago and a hair dresser friend used a kit like this to fix an orange problem I had.

Rebleach and then apply a toner. Also, make sure you use deep conditioning treatments afterwards at least once a month. Bleaching takes alot out of your hair.

i also have that problem! The only difference is, my orange hair is in patches. Basically, I purchased a l'oreal kit; you dye your hair " brown sugar" colour (that worked perfectly) then put in some "light brown / dark blonde" highlights. I followed the instructions exactly, kept it on for the right amount of time and.... you guessed it. It didn't work. In fact, it really backfired on me. I have copper/dark ginger streaks all through my hair, and it is really embarrasing. I go back to school tomorrow so I am going to get really teased. Has anyone got any tips or help for me? Please email me at

Lotrchick@hotmail.com

if you do. Any help would be much appreciated.

Unless you have a lot of money and can afford an experienced stylist, my recommendation is not to change your hair color dramatically. A few years ago I made that mistake and bleached my perfectly healthy brown hair to blonde, and after a year of doing this it looked completely awful. It's two years later and I still have some evidence of the damage, and I regret it so much. This may sound less exciting, but my advice is to return to your natural color and let your hair become healthy. Healthy hair is never out of style. If you think it's boring, perhaps you could change the style or have a stylist put in subtle highlights or a gentle color.
