i think that u need to go for something simple, yet effective....But DEFINATELY not girly. i have a male friend who has long hair also...and i love it when its fish tail braided. Its more intricate than a normal plait, but not too girly all the same. Does your girlfriend know how to do one? No offence intended, but dont go with the braids........it would look too feminine. Good luck!!!!!!

offence, but if I saw a man with a bun I would be seriously worried.
It's just...wrong! Long hair on guys looks really good though.

Personally my best style on men are low ponytails and three strand
single braids. I especially love seeing braids on both men and women I
just can't take my eyes:)

Think of Axl Rose in his "Use your Illusion" days. he looked awesome with long straight loose layers& bangs. But be careful not too end up looking like the singer from "Journey"....Better yet, take both pictures& tell stylist "I want this, NOT this"

It's just wrong for a man to wear a bun? I don't understand that.
I saw a guy at a wedding reception recently wearing a bun...it looked great!

Neither do I now when re read it! No hairstyles are wrong
although I think it's a l9ot harder for men to find suitable hairstyles
that don't look girly and are still practical and let you keep your
hair out of the way.

You can go for a long step cut....it really looks good on men. Ponytails, buns or braid are too common now-a-days.
