QuoteReplyTopic: toning shampoo for brassy tint Posted: March 19 2005 at 10:38pm
I have brown hair that I used to color a few years ago. The last time I dyed it, I used a color very similar to my natural shade so I wouldn't have obvious roots. The problem is the bottom half of my hair looks really brassy. Does anyone have any advice on how to tone this down? My hairstylist recommended a violet-tinted shampoo. Has anyone found a product like this that works? Thanks for your help!

Violet tinted shampoos are great.....on blonde hair. ArTec does
make an ash-brown shampoo (it's called cocoa bean). It's worth a
try if you don't want to add any more dye. The other choice is to
use an ash brown semi permanent the same level as your hair and only
apply it to the brassy half.
