I just stumbled upon this board and registered myself with it after reading useful information about hair styling and caring. I like this forum as it contains lot of valuable information about being beautiful through hair caring, styling, coloring, straightening, curling and many more like this.
Just joined today. I am semi-retired with grey/white hair, straight as a poker! Currently following research 1. being done by a group of scientists trying to stop hair from going grey and 2. killing cancer cells using a combination of Artemisinin tablets and Artemesia Annua (home grown) made into tea. I also love learning about new products for hair, hair tools and skin care. MH & I have a small vineyard and we grow our own fruit and veg here in rural Wales, UK.
Hi, my name is Leslie. I have gray hair that is/was short, short, straight, with a slight wave. I am growing it out try see what options I have for a change in style. also because I can't find a decent hairdresser/salon where I can get a decent haircut (the first step). I also have been unable to get advice about styles, cuts, hair care, etc. I have researched tons of online sites and have gotten help on hair care for gray hair which I am currently implementing. My hair is curly on the top, flips up in the back and is relatively straight on the sides. Ughhhhhhhh!!! HELP...........

I am hoping someone can give me some information. I have long dark brown hair. My cousin, who had the same color hair as me, posted a pic where she highlighted her hair all over and it was beautiful. Didn't look like a zebra and blended so nicely. Well, I wanted to do the same thing. I went to a salon, showed them the picture and asked if they could do the same kind of highlighting and they said they could. But when I got there for my appt. the stylist showed me a board with different color hair on it and said she could only get my hair to a medium brown.
I was so disappointed because she said she could lighten my hair like my cousin's. So she tested in two places and it didn't even get to a medium brown so I didn't have it done.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to highlight my hair with blondes and some shades darker if I have color in my hair and I have dark brown hair like my cousin? I am wondering if this lady just didn't have enough experience or am I just out of luck?
