I wash my hair once a week to ten days but every other day i run plain water over it.
You can run plain water over your hair daily but you shouldnt shampoo it daily because the shampoo strips the natural moisture and oils from the hair.
For most once a week to ten days should be good unless your bi-racial then you want to shampoo more often because bi-racial ppl tend to have more oily hair.

You are the only person to know if your hair loses to may natural oils when your wash your hair! exprement with it
REMEMBER: what mite work for you might not work for some one else
Even tho everone in the world are 99.9% alike you cant really go by wont one person says
If your hair get reallyNATURALLY oily fairly easy wash every 1-2 days
If your hair is really reallyNATURALLYdry once a week
If its some where in the middleNATURALLY wash 2-3 times a week
You can tell by the ance on your face if you know you wash your face
evey day and you stay away from fatty foods and you get alot of ance
you har is gunna be the same way.

Summer time- CO wash every 2 days. Water rinse inbetween those days...Clarify with shampoo once a week.
Winter- C (oil added)- w- C wash once a week.
There really isn't a rule of how often you should or shouldn't wash your hair. It's all trial and error and what you like to do. If you want to wash your hair often but not strip it from its natural oils, I suggest using conditioner.
Nope my hair is not oily and it's not dry.

Look at cmesweet's info i inlarged and made bold
My information that i inclueded in my past reply to this topic is correct
"NOPE MY HAIR IS NOT OILY AND ITS NOT DRY" thats means its in the middle and i said every 2-3 days correct
and are you in the wave game or do you have another hair style
and are you a girl?
I made thoes concluions from your avatar and your name cmesweet
and the way you change your washing patten to the changing seasons
Because your hair style might be diffrent and thefor requring a diffrent washing pattern
if you dont have the wave hair style your not doing constant brushin
and applying your du rag and applying diffrent pomades and creams
the du-rag will get dirty from your sweat plus the products in your hair thus, making our hair needing a wash

When I started this routine I had about 1/2 inch of hair. That was May 2004...I now have a fro which when pulled/stretched it is to my armpit (not sure in inches).
Yes, I am a female... .
It's good that you obtained your information from a book, however, you still have to experiement to see what your hair likes. Books can give you ideas, but not definite answers. I'm not exactly sure what catergory my hair falls into. My scalp isn't OILY and my HAIR isn't dry. I believe some people feel that if their hair is soft that it is moisturized, I would have to disagree or if their hair feels hard that it is dry, I disagree with this too. some people have naturally soft/hard hair. I Can go days without water and other moisturizing products but my hair still feels soft. So that definition of when your hair is hard or soft can cause confusion.
I do wear head wraps alot, especially in the winter to keep my scalp/skin from drying out which would be equal to a durag. I rarely apply other products in my hair but when I do apply a hair lotion, oil, or gel I wash it out the next day and then push my hair into a puff. I don't use a brush. But when I had 1/2 inch of hair I used the brush sometimes, but like I said, I haven't changed my routine at all.
Anyways, I'm just giving my washing info to let people know that water does not necessarily dry out your hair. Heavy products and water types which contain various minerals can dry out your hair.

look at the stuff i make bold in your reply
its a load of bul*sh*t
Products dont get you waves your brush does thats why you are wondering
why my right side is not forming why is my left side not forming why is
my right side not forming why is my back not forming ect. its because
you are spending MORE time applying pomades and gels and all this other
stuff in your hair
YOUR BRUSH NEEDS MORE TIME TO WORK IN YOUR HAIR NOT YOUR PRODUCTS
