QuoteReplyTopic: How did u start wavin? Posted: February 25 2006 at 1:25pm
I started out when i was bout 12 or 13 i used sportin waves n i used it every single day. eventually i gave up on it cause my waves were small n i couldnt get my sides 2 come in. had braids 4 bout 2 years then cut my hair n started brushin cause i wanted my hair straight but after bout a week i started seein waves. this is how i learned that brushing gives u waves not grease. i wasnt into waves no more so i didnt keep it but every once in a while i would brush n durag when i felt like gettin waves. then i grew my hair again n got braids till a few months ago when i finally cut it again. i was lookin 4 tips on how 2 spin n thats how i found this site and u guys have been so helpful. thanks 2 all ur methods my waves are better than ever n i now have my own method that gives me the results i want. So my question is how did all of u start? did u know what u were doin or did u jus buy grease n dump it in ur hair?

I always wanted waves but I was too afraid to cut my hair , but after I graduated I decided it was time for a change. I got brave, got my hair cut, and started brushin I didnt even use pomade when I first started, but I did use a soft wax(which I still use).

Does anyone know a good store, or place to get a medium brush? I can't seem to find one in any of the places in my area (North ATL). I didn't want to start a topic on this.

^^they didn't have any mediums in the Sally's where I live, but someone from from the Sally's website mentioned this brush == YORKSHIRE II MIXED BOAR STYLER 7 ROW (item# 333858). I think I'm going to have to order it or something

Use to keep my hair braided and permed, until lockup, tried to grow it back out fast afterwards using all kinds of stuff, and that damaged my scalp. So I wore my hair real low for years to get it back natural, and that got old looking to me. So waves is something I think looks good and professional.

I been wavin since like 6th grade but back then I thought all I had to do was durag. I had some waves on the top and sides and I thought I was crushin everybody. I had curls until 8th grade and went back to my dark ceasers. It wasent until my senior yr of high school that I realized my waves wasent the best. My freshmen year of college I realized I've been brushing wrong and not enough and thats how I found this site. Now going on my soph yr im the only 1/4indian black dude with waves on some spanish level.

i had been wavin all my life off and on just neva knew the correct way to do it. I had braids for 3yrs and cut my hair last x mas. I found this site bout two months ago and startin learnin how to take care of my hair. I thought it was the pomades and du rag that did it so i would load up head wit grease and constantly wear durag. I also would brush sides down not knowin they wouldnt connect that way. Ive been on waves for the last month tryin to get it back 2getha so i can get them 360's.
