You gotta check what # guard your barber be using.  And if he is cutting against the grain (ATG as we call it) or With the Grain (WTG) if u know what I mean.  WTG is pushing the clippers in the direction ur hair grows, such as from crown to temple, or crown to sideburns, or crown to bottom back.  And like ATG is opposite.  Most people here get a #2 WTG, or a #3 ATG.  I thought #3 ATG was messing with my wave progress where #2 WTG was working better for me, so Im switching back to #2 WTG.  But yeah most people get all over even (cesar) and some get a taper (faded by back of neck, temple, and sideburns) 
If u aren't aiming for 360s u can get a fade and maintain ur waves on top.  GL with the wave game, it is a long and difficult game to play

i had a fro i jus got it cut 2day ma hair is kinda spiky but once i keep brushing it itll go down
i jus bought a double sided brush with one ultra soft end n tha other side firm end n i got a du rag with Sportin` Waves gold tin
any body have advic for me what else i should get or what 2 do

now wut was dat fo and dough boy u dont need that sportin waves but all u gotta focus on is the brush u can use the sportin waves to hold ur hair down and du-rag to hold ur hair down but main thang is brushin..but buy somethin healthy for ur hair like carrot cream/and or pink lotion...u can find those at thim beauty suplly stores,publics,winn dixie,walgreens,them arabs be havin everything to
