I need some advice. Would it be a good or a bad idea to get a few long layers put into my thick shoulder length hair? I`m growing it out, but I am soooooooo bored with it and I thought that some long layers would take away some of bulk, and make it a little more interesting. My goal is about bra length, with some long layering, so my hair hair would grow out this way anyways if I got it cut w/ layers. Please can someone give my some advice?
Luv, Arianna:)

I think no, this advice from someone who is about to get my hair cut to chin legnth just to get rid of the layers. If you are bored, try different up-do`s or pony tails, etc... But layers is not your answer to boring hair.

Actually, I just went through a similar thing. I`ve been growing my hair out from a very short cut (like 1 inch long) for almost two years.

I was really starting to like the length (just above my shoulders, no bangs, one length), but my hair has some wave, and it was getting very hard to straighten. I tried to style it wavy, but it looked triangular. It also felt bulky, and it was starting to split a bit.

I decided to get layers and I am so happy with it. I can easily style it in a smooth flip, or blow dry upside down for volume. Plus, it got rid of my damaged ends without losing length. It cut my styling time from 30 minutes to 5-15 (depending on the style).

Everybody is different, but for me, the layers were great.

A few long and i mean long layers might not be a bad idea. I cut layers into my hair (long ones) almost 2 years ago and while there is some maintanence (sp) they remove some of the bulk and make your hair lighter.

How about a few angles in the front around your face?
