QuoteReplyTopic: Coloring synthetic hair with Rit. (pics) Posted: November 11 2006 at 1:34pm
I remember someone saying to use rit to dye synthetic hair... Anyways... I bought some thermo safe hair (wawa) and really wanted a nice fuchsia underneath the dark brown in my hair... I couldnt find fuchsia in wawa ( i dont think they make it ) so I bought #613 and bought some powdered Rit in Fuchsia. Stove top method, turned the heat off after 30 minutes and let it sit over night, then let it drip alot of the color/water out and then put it in a big bowl with vinegar (yuck) for a few hours, rinse it out with a hose... then later with hot water after it dried... (now I have decided I dont like that color after all and want Cherry red...so I bought some Scarlet in rit and have it on the stove right now...) The color is closer to the first fuchsia picture, it wasn't as bright as I had hpoed, but it I only used 1 box of Rit.
Here is the Cherry (fuchsia then Scarlet) And another picture of Cherry
I didn't leave the scarlet in for more than a hour then I just rinsed and washed with baby shampoo. The color is alot brighter with the second rit cycle. Its a pinkish red.
