ball4life, what kind of asian? cuz if you aint some kinda pacific islander type you prolly wont get em waves like you want em. i aint hatin or trynna discourage at all trust me, im the last person to do that. but while white and spanish hair typically have at least some kind of wave or curl when it gets longer (sometimes pure afro hair), asian hair is usually stick straight even when its ponytail length...so unfortunately you mite not have much to work wit just based on ya genes.
btw just for the record, race and ethnicity has nothin at all to do wit who can get waves, it has errthing to do wit the texture of your hair. theres people of every race and color imagineable with curly hair, and they can get waves. its just typically certain ethnic groups tend to have more or less curl in they hair which is again what determines if u can spin or not.

my hairs "straight" ("jew-fro" when its longer than 2 inches) but curl activator didnt do much for my hair cuz it doesnt really SET curls into the hair, it just tightens my curls if its in a blowout-type style and then hardens em a bit to keep the style like a hairspray, but once you brush or durag the curl-activated hair the extra curl kinda disappears. your gonna want to get some kind of deep moisturizer like carrot creme, or what i personally use wit the best results, indian hemp. those moisturize and maximize your curl and kinda set the curl in until the hairs washed.
filipino means you have a better chance of gettin decent waves, cuz they sometimes have curly hair. whats ya hair look like when its pretty long? (like 3 inches or longer)
edit: to answer ya question bout brushing, brush straight down, not in a s-type formation. theres a pic somewhere on these forums that shows exactly how, and on youtube theres vids of n!ggaz brushin so you can see how its done

Gnarly, you already know how I feel . I just cant wait to see complete pattern like the rest off us waiting.
Nice cut too. If you get it tapered on the neck and the temples you would be killem even more plus+++ it will allow you to grow you hair out even more (while brushing) without lookin to maney.
Which means even more brushin in between cuts, which means faster progress for the GOLDEN CHILD.
