Will permanent dye work over demi permanent dye?

Hi guys!
 
It's been about 3-1/2 months since I've colored my hair with Goldwell Colorance in 3N. About 70% of the color has faded from my hair.
 
Now, I'd like to add some brown highlights to my hair just using permanent dye (I'm only looking to lift a couple of shades).
 
My question is:
Will I get the color desired if I just add the permanent dye over previously demi permanent colored hair?
 
I'm thinking about using Goldwell's Topchic or Elumen. Anyone has any suggetions on those or other permanent dyes that give great results (as in, the color I want will be the color I get)?
 
Should I use a high-lift color? My haircolor right now is about a 4 and I want a chocolate like color (maybe a 5 or 6?).

Colour wont lift colour even hi lift colour. You will need to bleach the hi lights to your desired amount of lift then apply your chocolate brown over the hi lighted areas to achieve your desired colour.
 
Applying permanent colour over a demi colour is fine.
