Hi, I need help [picture included].

I dyed my hair black around a month or 2 ago, it's faded, I also have a dark maroon red at the tips and my original haircolor is growing in at the roots, a medium brown...

I want to do my hair like this:

I'm not sure what those colors are, the dark brown, but I think the lighter colors are copper highlights.  I don't want to go from black to brown and it not turn out the right color I want it, because I know once you dye your hair black it's difficult to go back to a lighter color. I also would like to know how to put the copper highlights in and what products to use.

Any help would be immensely appreciated, I'm getting so sick of my hair color.
