Need your advice on what color Highlights to get

ANy advice on what color highlights to get for light to medium brown hair?  I used to get super light bleached (almost white) ones all over-but this eventually turned my whole head too light and was damaging.  Then I started to go more natural.  So now I think this is too boring! I don't want more than 1, maybe 2 colors.  But I want light blonde highlights but not so much that it looks like I only have 1 color of hair.  I know this is probably an impossible demand--but what do you think I should ask for?  By the way, my hair is fine/thin. Help! Please!!
