An easy procedure for controlled breathing exercise:
  1. Be seated upright in a comfy position.
  2. Concentrate on your present state and existence (this is time and again termed being "mindful"). Forget intrusive thoughts. You can close your eyes if you desire.
  3. Give attention to your breathing. Breathe in gradually through the nose, taking numerous seconds.
  4. Breathe out through the mouth, trying to make the breath phase last twice as long as the inhalation.
  5. Go on with this mindful breathing for 3-5 minutes.
