Barber ruined my hair (photo inside)

So I use to have slightly long hair with bangs, I know to "remove" them you just grow them out, which I did. I went to the barber and told him I wanted short spikey hair with no bangs. First thing he does is create bangs, and I told him no bangs, so he just keeps making them shorter to the point he cuts them to my line. I now I have super short bangs, even when I apply gel and push it back my hair still looks weird. The front is always shorter than the rest of my hair. Hence the weird bangs.

What is my solution? simply let my hair grow all over again? or get a buzzcut so my hair is all the same length?
