I used to have a red face with lots of pimples. I didn't understand why, as I ate a really healthy diet, was regular, was extremely healthy in other ways besides my skin. Anyways, I remembered that when I was in college, I had great skin and I also took evening primrose oil supplements. I didn't want to take them again, so I tried adding more olive oil to my food. I listened to my body and it usually told me to consume 1 or more tablespoons of olive oil. I also ate spinach. After doing this for a while, I notice that my skin has brightened and the pimples have decreased or gotten smaller. Most of the redness is gone.Acne was the cause of the inflammation.

This was interesting as I was already an avid consumer of almonds and pistachios. But apparently, the kind of essential fatty acids you eat is important. Those nuts have Omega-9's, but olive oil has Omega-6's. Spinach has Omega-3's. Your body can generate Omega-9's from other EFA's, but you need to consume the 6's and 3's.

The cause of acne is oil getting trapped in your follicles, which traps bacteria into your pores, which results in acne.
