So now that the awards have come and gone, did anyone's hair stand out to you?
The only one that really caught my eye was Maggie Gyllenhall's uber-pixie -- I think she wears it very well, and was glad to see she returned to the style.
On the whole, though, the night, in my opinion, continued a trend of being pretty dang blah as fair as hair goes. No one seemed to really be trying.

Rosemund Pike's hair looked great, everyone else was kind of under-whelming. At least they looked better than the celebs did at the People's Choice Awards.

One did stand out....and not in a good way... Camila Alves. With Blonde you should go big or go home, and she should have stayed home instead of getting bad highlights.

I agree with all of the above. A few, such as Rosamund Pike, were very nice and more definite styles. I liked the few, such as Amy Adams, Salma Hayek, and especially the woman with Reese Witherspoon (the person "Wild" is based on) who went with old Hollywood glamour waves and volume.
But most styles looked very bland, familiar and overtired to me, not even trying to rise to the occasion. There is just no way Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Catherine Zeta-Jones look better with their hair center parted and flattened against their heads like librarians than side-parted, full and styled differently. On the other hand, Amy Poehler had such a deep side part with both her up and down styles, it resembled an old man's combover. I don't know what Emily Blunt was doing with braids, but it didn't work.
To me, these styles clash with the formality and pizzazz of the dresses, the surroundings, and the occasion. I don't get it.

Thanks for the heads up on Katie Holmes, HAWG, although I assume you were pretending about the possibility of all of that pretend long ponytail being Katie's real hair. I didn't watch the Globes or the red carpet shows. The highlights I saw on other TV shows didn't focus on Katie. While I would love for her hair length to be that long, I find it laughable that awards show reviewers and general entertainment shows cover extended hair as if it's news. Or just the opposite: Let's give major coverage to Jennifer Lopez's shoulder-length haircut and then not mention how her hair has magically grown back. Hair has become nothing more than a non-clothing accessory -- both at awards shows and throughout the entertainment world. Even newsbabes are wearing extensions. If you can get up that early,atch Fox News' Ainsley Earhart's beautiful hair go up and down throughout a single week. I'm already ruing the day when HLN's Robin Meade removes her amazing long hair extensions and goes back to her regular length. I've become super cynical about awards shows -- hair and otherwise. There are too many awards shows honoring the same people over and over again. To quote comedian Jerry Seinfeld (after winning yet another award): "... awards don't mean a goddamn thing. It's stupid. They're all stupid. All of the award shows on TV. Honestly, it's beyond me that we feel the need to set aside a night to give out these jaggoff bowling trophies six times a year, so all these people can pat each other on the back about how much money they're making; boring the piss out of half the world. And if I hadn't already won all these awards, I would not be talking like this."
