I have been, for the last 16 months, asking the stylist to help me grow out my hair. I have thick curls, dark brown starting to grey.

Currently, if I "let my hair down" it completely covers my ears, and goes over my collar about an inch, but it is well styled and well maintained, at least during work hours.

I want to go back to my old barber for a crewcut agian. What the shortest that I can go if I need to maintain an "expensive professional" appearance.

I am really looking forward to an old-time shearing, but I`d like some opinions about how short is OK in conservative work environments.

Thanks
David

This could depend on how quickly your hair curls. After a while my hair gives my head "wings" - not quite the look I want.

Your barber may be a good judge, but you might go to a 1 or 2 on the sides with enough on the top for direction.
