I look like a hippy!!!! My hair length is just below my shoulders when I straighten my hair, which is often. I would like to try to wear my hair naturally, however, my hair underneath is so curly it is about 3 inches shorter than the top of my hair which is wavy, not curly. This makes my hair look fried and thin at the bottom. I don't like the sticky look of some styling products/hair styles - - I was hoping for a look like Nicole Kidman/Jessica Parker. Any ideas? Help?!!!

Lori,

You should try cutting it short or just leaving it long.
I've myself always liked long hair. You can still have
the Jessica Parker/Nicole Kidman look by keeping it long
and just do an updo with a pretty clip or whatever.
I think long hair is in?! But, personally long hair has
alot more spunk than short hair!
God luck in whatever you choose.

Don't cut your hair. What you need to do is take advantage of all the curl you already have. The best way that I have found to enhance the curl on the "top" follows: First, wash your hair. When it is still wet, put in some leave-in conditioner and brush/comb it out. Then put in some hair gel (Aussie is my favorite brand), and scrunch your hair to get as curly as it will go when wet. Use a hair-drier that has a finger-diffuser attachment, or get one that is separate and attach it yourself. While holding your head upside-down, lift the diffuser into your hair and let it go back down, so that each time, your hair curls (or at least gets twirled) up in the diffuser. Keep it up until your hair is dry. It takes a while, but this technique has been simply a hair-saver for me.
Best of luck!

You should get a nice long layered cut. The more your hair is treated with vitamins the softer it gets then it will will be more manageable. In other words the curls will be more manageable. People who have curly hair usually have drier hair. The best solution is to always moistion or treat your hair. This comes from an eleven (11) yrear hair specialist. Good luck!! Hope this will help!!
