Nail polish

At what age you started wearing nail polish? I painted my toes red at 16 but curiously at the beginning i was quite embarassed and even in summer i wore mostly closed shoes because i was afraid it could be considerate inadequate. Also the following years my toes was red but this time i had less problem to wear open shoes, while since my early 20’s i tend to use less showy colours.
