Pantene is AWFUL for your hair! Any shampoo with Ammonium Lauryl or Laureth Sulfate or both is just typically a very harsh shampoo to use on hair. Stuff like Pantene, Thermasilk and others out there are just too harsh for everyday use.
Look for shampoos that contain Sodium Lauryl or Laureth Sulfate and if you color your hair or perm your hair get shampoo for color treated hair or permed hair. It's very important that you use the products that are for your hair type.
