QuoteReplyTopic: Please help, hair is two colors! Posted: November 06 2008 at 11:02am
Hello; I am new to this forum, and I hope I can find someone to help. I am a natural strawberry blond, but I have been dying my hair for some time. I wanted to have a copper shade of hair. So I put a copper red on it. The top of it came out a BRIGHT copper and the rest a lighter red. I hated it. So I decided to use a color remover, I used water instead of the bleach that came with it to mix, to minimize damage. The box said to do that if you only wanted to remove some color. It the came out lighter orange red on top, and a yellow-blond shade on rest. My husband told me blond would probably work so I put a natural blond on my hair. Yea, the red on top did not take. So now my hair is bright red on top and underneath and on top blond. I do not know what to do but I can't live with it like this. I cannot afford to go to a salon. I just want my hair to be at least mostly one color! Please help if possible. I need advice desparetely.

You poor thing!!! I just had the same thing happen with my hair. So here is what I did. Went and bought a bleach lightner kit. left that on my hair for 45 minutes. Then put a dark ash blond over that to minimize the remaining red that was still in my hair then put a light nuetral brown over that. This will DESTROY your hair and it will be darker and more neutral than your natural strawberry blonde. Mine did not fall out but it feels like straw. I recomend a hot oil treatment after a couple days. I am happy I did it because I just couldnt bring my self to walk around with the multi toned clown orange hair, but really it destroys your hair. I had a chin length bob but I am going to have to cut off a minimum of an inch. Another option is to go to a beauty school, they will usually correct this kind of problem for a minimal fee. I used to only go to beauty schools for all my hair needs but I moved and don't live by one anymore. Third option is to buy a wig. It sounds corny but I would work for the couple weeks until your hair is strong enough to start the bleaching process again. Please note that I am not a hair specialist, coloritst, or beautician. I am just a layperson that cannot afford to get my hair colored alot by the professionals.

Hey i really appreciate your advice. My neighbor actually used to be a beautician, and she put brown on my hair, without stripping it. So its a little darker on top, but at least its all mostly one color now!

That is what I was going to suggest. More than likely your red will wash out over time and the brown will get lighter. Then, you can gradually go lighter and redder if you want. Next time, post pictures and it is easier to see texture/color and easier to make recommendations.
