The curl experts say that the best way to detangle naturally curly, wavy or textured hair is to detangle in the shower.

The suggested curly hair detangling steps are:

1.  Cleanse pre-treated hair in lukewarm water.  Ideally hair should be detangled before cleansing in water.
2.  After cleansing hair (full shampoo or Diluted Shampoo, low poo, no poo, CoWash, water only) then gently squeeze excess water out of hair with fingers.
3.  Apply a rinse out conditioner from bottom or ears down to the ends.
4.  Use fingers or wide tooth comb with smooth teeth to detangle individual horizontal sections from the ends up to the roots.
5.  Wet hair is more prone to damage than dry hair so go very slow and careful to prevent breaking or ripping hair.  It can break or rip easier than when detangled dry.
6. Don't tug on any hard knots or they will break easier.  If you hit a big or tough knot add a little additional rinse-out conditioner to the knot before detangling with fingers or a comb.
7.  After hair is completely detangled than rinse well with lukewarm water.
8.  Finish with a cool or cold water rinse.
9.  Towel blot removing excess liquid but leaving hair damp.
10.  Spritz on any added detangler and detangle any remaining spots.

Do you agree that this is the best method for the majority of naturally curly, wavy or textured hair or do you think there are other methods which are better?

Does everyone with naturally textured hair benefit from detangling in the shower or is there a better way to do it?
