I have heard that this helps with hair growth. Does anyone know why?

Hi,

Self magazine in December of 2001 had a note that Ginkgo biloba, an herb used to help memory and increase circulation to the scalp (which would probably help with hair growth) may negatively impact a developing fetur. A study from Wayne State University in Detroit pointed to the fact that the Ginkgo may generate unhealthy levels of "colchicine", a compound linked to birth defects. The study did not find that this colchicine would impact nonpregnant women, men or other people. There was no mention if this would impact children.

So while Ginkgo may help with memory and may also help with cranking up the circulation to the brain, scalp and possibly hair follicles, avoid it if you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant in the near future.

Best wishes,
Karen
