I have green eyes and usually wear browns/neutrals in eye makeup, along with a brownish bronze eyeliner. I was once told by a facialist that I should not wear any shade of green eyeliner since my eyes are green. Has anyone heard of that? I only wear eyeliner on my top eyelid.

(I posted this a little while ago, and have seemed to lost it. I can't find it on here anywhere. So if you see duplication, I am sorry.)

I think the reason it's not a good idea,is because it does nothing for your eyes. As in,since it's the same colour as your eyes it just clashes. You need to use colours that bring out your eyecolour. Try using brick or pink.

I don't know if I believe that rule. I have blue/gray eyes and everyone tells me I should wear brown eyeliner. But I don't like how it looks at all. I think it just makes my eyes look kind of pinkish like I've been crying. I usually wear blue eyeliner and everyone agrees that it looks better. It really depends on what you think looks good and feel most comfortable in.

Well,I've seen people wear the same eyeliner/eyeshadow colour as their eyes and it seems so blah or either too clashy. Usually it looks better to use colours opposite eachother on the colour wheel.

Thanks Allie & Demodoll!! Well, a couple of days ago I went to a department store and tried green eyeliner. I used to wear it many years ago, but when I tried it on I totally did not like it. It did infact clash with my eyes. Since my eyes are so green, it was almost too much green. I really like the brown eyeliner...it seems to make my eyes stand out. Thanks for both of your replies!

Well, what should I do? My eyes are hazel, but more green than anything else, I'd say. When I have worn the green, I liked it. Brown doesn't seem to do anything for me.

If your eyes are green try a burgandy eyeliner paired with a lavander eyeshadow....and if you really want to play up your eyecolor use a plum colored mascara (i know almay makes a really good colored one). I have green eyes, my absloute fave feature and this seems to work best for me

Im also green-eyed and green shadow/liner is beautiful! I get the most compliments on my eyes when i wear a dark green liner, because i think while the rule of complimentary colours works for most eyes, it's hard to pull off red or true pink that's enough to show off the green without overpowering it.
