I have had the same long, thick, curly hair for years and am ridiculously bored. I want to go shorter, maybe right above my shoulders but I am afraid it is going to get to puffy. (It is really thick!). Any advice on shorter hairstyles for my kind of hair? I have a haircut appotintment tomorrow so any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

If you have not had your hair cut yet...check out the article on the front page for long, thick, curly hair styles. There are several ideas to keep from being bored.

If you did get your hair cut, check out:

Felicity (Kerri Russell) got her longer curly hair cut very short and it looks great. The key is not to have the hair layered but "sliced and formed" like Ouidad recommends so that each clump of curls is carefully sliced to make it lay flatter and not be puffy.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,
