I have heard pros and cons about all types of these products and how if used a lot they will retard hair growth my suffocating the cuticles? Is this true or just media hype? Any thoughts or hints would be much appreciated. Replies: Posted By: Unregistered Guest Date Posted: April 27 2003 at 1:05am Some stylists believe that anything that smothers the hair cuticle or roots be it gel or paste or wax will prevent the hair from getting proper air circulation and it will cause the hair to become brittle and break off. Which of course is not a good sign for growing hair longer. I try to avoid all of those types of products. Of course this is just my opinion.
