I'm looking for one that will optimize volume, yet is safe for the hair. I've tried boar bristle with some fairly undesirable results... Any suggestions??

I am currently using a round, medium barrel brush that is vented metal core with plastic bristles. It seems to work pretty well. I haven't got much damage and I blow dry on hot every day. I can't use it to comb out when I first get out of the shower though. I have to use a wide tooth comb to get the tangles out then the brush when I start to blow it dry.

Believe it or not, I use the Mason Pearson Detangler Nylon brush which is actually specifically for thick hair but it works wonders on my fine straight hair. It gets all the knots and tangles out without breaking or snagging and gives loads of volume. I used my friend's once (she has superthick hair) and was hooked, went out and bought it the next day. I cannot use any other brush!

Cheers
