Hi everyone, I'm new here and also new to the world of extensions.
I've tried clip ins but I don't like them and want something more permanent.
I've done a fair bit of research and I know I don't want Great Lenghtsor those microfibre extensions.
As I'm located in the United Kingdom I don't have a lot of the choices I've seen on here but I do have a salon that does Racoon (I actually have a few salons that do but I only like the look of one of them).
As anyone on here had Racoon extensions? If so what were they like, did they shed loads, give you damage, how were they to maintain.
I've seen a few bad reviews on them elsewere but I've also seen a lot of good reviews, I would love to get as much info on them as possible before I make I choice to have them put in or not.
I'm pretty sure Racoon hair is synthetic, and is a strand application. They probably have other applications available. See if they have a brochure about Racoon hair.
Some synthetic hair is really nice, and some not so nice. It's the same with human hair, there's all different grades of hair.
Not sure what you mean by micro fiber.....you would probably be happier with good quality human hair, and a silicone coated micro link install.
Racoon are Human Hair extensions, put in via the fusion method. They have 2 different types of human hair for you to choose from - Standard and European, i have worn the standard hair before and was not that impressed, but i do hear that the European Hair is great (although very expensive)
Watch out for the sheading though, you will need regular maintenance!
Let us know what you decide to do.

The texture of the hair was not good at all, it went so dry and tangly. The sheading was an absolute nightmare, i have worn most brands available in the UK and the Racoon extensions were the worst for sheading, but maybe that was down the the hairdresser who applied them?
I had a maintenance appointment at 6 weeks where they removed all of my side extensions and re-attached. I think i then put up with them for another 2 weeks or so and removed them myself. So in total i wore them for about 8 weeks. I will see if i can find a picture of them that i can post for you.
The only good thing i can say is that there was absolutly no damage to my hair with this brand.

I dont mind you asking me questions at all. I got a full head and the initial cost was £400, the maintenance cost at 6 weeks was £120, i got the 18 inch Standard Hair. Including the wash and blowdry with the prep shampoo prior to the application, the whole install lasted about 3 hours.
I have not heard much about the Micro Wefts, i would have thought they would be more suitable for temporary wear though.
Here are the methods i have used and worn over the years and my opinions on them:
Dome - I had these for my first ever extension install - they were cheap because there are not human hair. Once i had tried the human hair there was no going back to Monofiber.
Raccoon - Not good quality hair and the sheading was a big problem.
Cinderella - Nice hair, strong longlasting bond but the bonds are quite large. Brown shades are great but the blondes tend to shead.
GreatLengths - Expensive but worth it - really natural looking extensions but only good if you have strong hair as they can be quite damaging.
What is your hair texture like, have you got straight sleek hair or is it naturally wavy. It it is straight and sleek then Cinderella would be a great match. If however you have wavy hair then GreatLengths or any type of Indian Hair would be a better match.
Where abouts in the UK do you live?

I live in Birmingham so I usually get my hair done in the town center cause it's esier for me.
All the places in town seem to do Raccon, I've heard of Cindarella and Greth Lenght but cannot find anyone close enough that does those systems.
I would say my hair is in the middle not fine but not thick either and it as a slight wave but it's quite dry from coloring and heat styling.
The salon I've spoken too quoted me £600 for 18inch euro hair but that includes a wash and blow dry a week after I get the extensions, the aftercare kit (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in and brush) and the 6 weeks maintanance touch-up.
Looking at what yours cost you that sounds quite cheap and sort of to good to be true.
Did the Great Lenght leave your hair really damaged?
