hey all im a 14 yr old male. i really want to grow my hair long but it is quite thick and bushy so when i do it turns me into a kind of crazed beatle fan. are there any products that thin ur hair or make more floppy? thanks for any replies ben
I looked like a crazed Beatle fan for 10-15 years!! My thickness and bristliness really bothered me sometimes, but eventually I just learned to love my hair for what it is. The "bushiness" will go away as your hair gets longer. Actually, that "bushiness" will transform itself into gorgeous thickness as time wears on! (and I loooove my resulting thickness!)
Technically there's nothing you can do to make your hair finer. As for a thinner head of hair, I'd say we wait til your middle age and you won't have to do a thing. Love your thickness, man.. You can't drastically change your hair without really damaging it (When you're growing, you'll definitely want to stay away from heat tools and chemicals. And chemical gardens. Just kidding, I'm a fan of the Meat Puppets)
But... you can make your conditioner choices carefully. My hair really liked Neutrogena back in the day. It kept my volume in-check. I used to jack Neutrogena conditioners from Doubletree and Hilton hotels, since they couldn't be found in drug stores, lol.. (Suave Professionals' products are quite similar in formulation)
Think of it this way... You've got heavy duty hair, so it'll be less likely to break while you're growing!
You could flat iron it to get rid of excess volume. Or use an anti-frizz serum to weight it down.
It's hard not to look like a crazed Beatles fan when hair starts to grow past the ears. People's views towards me have changed since I've been growing it long.
what kind of haircut should i get? will they be able to keep the length but just thin it out a bit? also, could u recomenda normal conditioner that i could find in Boots or sommit. thanks for the replies
With really thick hair, the only manageable and de-volumizing lengths are really really short or past shoulder length. Anything in between, and you'll have to make peace with the thickness. Suave has a knockoff of Biolage that works nicely for thick hair or any hair.. called BioBasics. um.. Kirkland Lemon Complex conditioner (bulk) .. and conditioners by Willow Lake I think are also lovely and quite weightless. Pure-A-Teas is a good non-coner for weekend flings.
ive just bought sunsilk anti frizz shampoo and conditioner. do u reckon that will do the trick? my hair hasn't gotten really bushy yet so i cant tell whether it has worked but it seems to have less volume. thanks again for all your help
oh yeah. also wat is the standard rate of hair growth? im considering taking pills for it because i think my hair grows slowly. wats the cheapest that i could get? thanks
People respond differently to hair growth pills. For some they work, for others they're a waste of money. Concentrate on taking a daily multivitamin and eating right. You should be okay from there. Be sure to let us know how the Sunsilk works long term.
