Layers?

I have blonde hair maybe about 3 or 4 inches below my bra strap. I want a little change but don`t neccissarily want to cut it. I was thinking about getting layers cut. Do you think this will make it look any different and do you think it will look good? I am about 5`5" and 16 and have what I think is an oval shaped head, and really skinny. These are the questions I have, Will the layers make it harder to style and put up? How short should I get them cut and how should I tell the stylist to do it without giving her a chance to interpretit wrong? If I don`t like them will they be hard to grow out? Please help, I am trying to get this done soon for the semi-formal at my school next month. Thanks.

Well, I think I`m gonna go with layers because its a different look without really that much of a change. But given how long I have had my hair exactly the sme, it will be good for me, you know what I mean. I`m excited I just hope my date for the smi likes it, I think he will.
