QuoteReplyTopic: HAIR EMERGENCY! Posted: May 08 2002 at 4:20pm
My hair is originally medium brown, and I`ve been dying it black for years now.. But about 6months ago (December) I went blonde. I ended up having to bleach my hair about.. 2-3 times and then coloring it a golden blonde. REMARKABLY my hair hasn`t all fallen out or even got damaged as much as the salon thought it would.. But it has broken off in some areas, dried up horribly, and is hard to manage. Atop that, I know my hair is in Hell since I do have to straighen it every 3-4 days with one of those flat irons. I was just wondering what products or procedures I could do to make my hair healthier and shiner? Also, I noticed my hair is getting darker and darker, what products should I use to maintain or even make my hair blonder without killing it even more? PLEASE HELP!

P.S. I asked my stylist if keeping conditioner in my hair for long periods of time (I usually keep it it from 1 hour to sometimes 6) would help, and she said it would totally hurt my hair.. which sounds surprising. But another stylist told me it was a great thing to do for my hair. Who`s right and who`s wrong?
I don`t know why your hair is getting darker. Maybe it`s some sort of product build up?
I would use good products on your hair. Biolage hydradating and balm or Redken`s all soft line would probably be great.
As for the conditioner, if you leave it on longer than the time called for I doubt it will hurt your hair, but I doubt it will do anything extra. Times are put on bottles for a reason.
Loreal`s mega moisture cream is really great as a treatment.
Also, I would use a leave in conditoner daily as well.
I would also get a haircut if I were you. As much as you can stand to have cut off. Maybe do a bunch of layers to get all the damage off.
Hi, Jasmynne...As a hairdresser, I would suggest Tigi Bedhead "Dumb Blonde" Duo...thee shampoo and the conditioner. The shampoo tones down the off tones, and makes your blonde brighter, and the conditioner is a reconstructor. I work in a salon that is corporately owned by Regis, and our salon has them on sale as a duo pack right now, for about 16 dollars. If you take my advice and use these products, do as follows. Use the shampoo, then towel dry your hair (blot only). Then using the conditioner, put it thru your hair, and put on a plastic cap. Either apply heat with a dryer, or wrap a hot towel for approximately 20 minutes. This will open up the hair shaft and do a "deep conditioning treatment". A great leave-in Conditioner is Biolage Daily Leave In Tonic. I recommend it highly, as it will help protect your hair from heat styling, etc. Regular trims (at least once a month) are very important during this time of getting your hair back into shape. I hope I helped you...good luck! (Remember..i`ve been there, and you are not alone :)
