Hey...I have a little bit of a problem here...I have medium brown hair, very pretty, naturally wavy, and I tried to put blonde streaks in it....not professionally though, my mom did it at home...
that`s not a bad thing! I trust her...she`s been dying my hair for two years, and her own for about 20. Anyway, the streaks look BAD. I mean really terrible. I don`t wanna go dye my hair back brown for a while otherwise the chemicals could fry it. But I want the streaks GONE!! They are so icky lookin`. Does anybody know a way to get rid of this bright blondish-orangish color goin` on in my hair without freakin` it up?! HELP!

Hi!
What did you use to highlight your hair? Dye or bleach?Bleach will lift more.
It sounds like it did not get lightened enough. You need to get past the orange stage to yellow and then use a toner on the highlighted parts.
If you just want to go back to brown and be done with it you will have to use a deposit only type dye. Deposit only colors do not lift. It will not ruin your hair. All permanent tints lift then deposit color. Even black dyes.I suggest going to the beauty store and look for a dye called Second Nature by Clairol. It is a deposit only dye and is meant for tint backs (thats what your doing is called). It already contains the red/yellow pigments that you bleached out so you will end up with a more natural color. Use one shade lighter than what you want and stay away from ash brown like the plague. You could end up with green/blue tones. Put it only on the light parts. Do a strand test for timing. It could take only a few minutes or it could take the entire developing time.If you can`t get to a beauty store you could try L`Oreal Castings in a golden brown color. I have not used this for a tintback myself but, its an alternative. Just in case you don`t have a beauty store that sells to the public in your area you could buy this at a drug store.

well, i used a highlighting kit; it was L`Oreal I think...idk, it had the strander comb thing in it...anyway...i used a bright bright blonde, like yellow blonde, over it... like 1/2 a cm of my roots show and the blonde isn`t exactly orangey, it`s more of a reddish/gold/yellow weirdo freak color..as you can tell from my name, i`m a prep and with the freak colors i look like a prep trying to be punk/gothic..it`s sad...my b/f laughed at me...lol my mom told me to just dye it back brown after my hair has settled for awhile, and i wanna use the same color i used to make it brown (Herbal Essences Almond Bliss) but from what you said, i`m not sure i should use the brown b/c of the green/blue thing...aaahhhh that would look soooo much worse... what do i do? (beauty salons around here don`t sell the dyes, they put it on professionally, but the don`t sell it)
