ok cool thx for the info and article J Baby...

it was worth a read.. however i guess it depend on people`s needs and then decide whether to get wax or pomade.

I think most people prefer wax but too bad there is so much products/brands to look for and the ones i want to check out is not even here in local stores that sucks. ;(

oh well...

hey Ryo! I found an article that Karen wrote in march about hair products. so here it is...well about wax and pomade. hope I helped you out a bit!

Pomades, Glossers, Shine serums

This styling family consists of pomades, glossers and shine serum products. Products designed to promote shine tend to be less concentrated than pomades and glossers. Shine enhancers, glossers and pomades block frizzies, promote smoothness and add shine. Glossers and shine serums, unlike pomades, are available in both liquid and spray-on versions. (Phytotherathrie - PhytoDefrisant RelaxSerum, Giovanni - Frizz Be Gone, Trevor Sorbie Glosser).
Shine enhancers are often based upon silicone oils that act as emollients sealing the hair cuticle, blocking static electricity and protecting the shaft from damage. Shine products are beneficial for coarse or chemically treated hair. (Curl Friends All Weather Shine, TIGI Rubber Rage - Shine Texturizer).
Pomades are thicker and more natural than wax and tend to be greasier than many styling formulas. Usually available in either humectant or anti-humectant options they are perfect for creating soft slicked back looks. Most beneficial for thick and curly hair that needs extra hold and protection against frizziness. (KuscoMurphy Lavender Hair Cream, Biosilk Silk Pomade, Paul Mitchell Modern Elixirs Defining Pomade, TIGI Catwalk Texturizing Pomade).

wax
Twist, scrunch and shape hair with waxes designed for "spot styling". Wax is often applied to the ends of razored, choppy styles for separation, texture and shine. Waxes may also be used at the roots to add texture and volume. Wax offers an overall harder, stiffer finish. (KuscoMurphy Cinnamon Hair Wax, Mine, Yours-Detail Wax, Goldwell Trendline Shine Wax, TIGI Way Out Head Banger, Redken Water Wax).

My sister uses something called X-treme but it's not mustache wax.. the wax is green. Then there was something else that was more gooey

I actually recommend bee's wax. Just any bee's wax will do.

You could probably find some at sally beauty supply or any hair salon or store that carries hair stuff. it will wash out with shampoo. Does that help you?

There aren't lightening responses on this board, but i figure it's been a while this board has been up and not many people are super interested in hair. ;)

mustache wax, lol i dont think so and never seen any thing like that.

X-treme heh my sister says there is one good wax she sees her friend uses but really expensive for a small container and its green.

The one you describe is it this one.....? if it is lots of $$$$ :(

bee`s wax as in from bees? lol i dont see any of those in the stores i go to. :(
sally beauty supply is it in canada too? I go to drug mart and wal-mart but they dont have alot of hair wax product. If they do is mostly dippity-do or Stiff Wax that are so small and contain so little. Why do they make it like that i dunno... like half of whats in the Stiff Wax at the bottom its another layer of upward plastic....

oh yeah i thought the board would reply faster since its a big forum with many users but the board sometimes does seems dead. Like i see my topic on the top for like 1-2 day....

thx for answering the question, but there is one you miss and im not sure if you know. But what is the difference between pomade and hair wax? any thing different in hold, greasiness, shine etc??

I been checking out this board recently ok just today and did some search on the forums but im so confused. There is just to much brands of wax i just dont know which ones are good enough to buy or use.

My hair is probably 2 or 3 inches long from the root and i was wondering whats a good wax to use that is not overly expensive, not much grease residue, hold up the hair well and spiking can be done too.

I normally use strong gel but i dont like the wetness in my hair sometimes from using and it takes pretty long for my hair to dry. And also the flakyness ewwwwwwwwww.... :(

so any good recommendation on what type of wax im looking for?

thx. great forum! :)
