I have thick hair and it is about almost half way down my back. It is alot thicker at the bottom of my hair and it is less thick around my shoulders. It is also very coarse. Right now i have layers in my hair. I am getting a hair cut on friday and i was wondering what would be a hair cut that might make my hair look thinner and straighter looking, but I don`t want to go really short. Or is there any products or chemical things to make a person`s hair thinner.
You describe a situation where you almost have to cut some off the bottom- the ends. You have old ends that have been brushed probably to death. I know you don`t want a short cut, but go up a few inches, to just past your shoulders - tell the stylist that you want it to touch your shoulders when dry. Your new ends will respond, probably curl in a flattering way. Products or chemicals - ahhh! Try a deep conditioner - comb it in and just hang out with it in while you watch TV some night. Do it once a week and the life will come back. Avoid the blow dryer- get up earlier and let it air dry. Please let me know how Friday goes.

I agree. You sort of answer your on question. You need to cut the thickness out. If your hair is thinner around the shoulders then that is where you need to cut it to. I don`t know what your definition of really short is, but shoulder length, is still kind of long. Good luck & I hope all goes well for you tomorrow.
