I am feeling frustrated with my bangs. There is a cowlick on my left side, and the hair wants to stick up or out, even though I use a large barrel curling iron, Aveda Phomollient, and I keep my bangs fairly long so they have more weight. I think the fact that my hair is fine makes my bangs harder to deal with, because they tend to be limp and lay flat. (I guess all of my hair would be like that if it were short) I would like my bangs to look like Jane Seymour's on Dr Quinn. Any suggestions??

Hi Clare,Yes cowlicks are a major pain. A good friend of mine has one at the front of her crown near her bangs. You can try the following steps to fix a cowlick...or at least have some more control.1. Use a blowdryer and dry the cowlick hair area in the opposite direction from the way that it normally lays. This will redirect the hair and hopefully should give the cowlick more lift and cause it to be less out of control.2. Do not dry the hair so that it lays close to your head. The closer the cowlick is to your head the more it can split and stick up. The key is to get as much lift as possible.3. Try Aveda Confixer or Aveda Flaxseed gel. It should work wonders to help get some control and extra lift to the cowlick.4. Use a vented brush to lift your hair as you blowdry it. Using a blowdryer on a low speed should also help you get more lift and body to the cowlick.5. To get a thick and full bangs, ask your stylist to cut more of the bangs by migrating back a little further from the crown. In other words, get a fuller thicker bangs. The heavier the hair on the bangs, the better. Since your hair is more thin than thick, you will need as much weight as possible.I hope this helps.Regards,KarenI am feeling frustrated with my bangs. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
