I know this question has been asked here before, but it wasn't answered so I'll give it another go.What's the deal with tipping? Do I tip the owner of the salon if she cuts my hair? What about the shampoo girl, should I tip her to?I guess I'm gonna have to find a ettiquite book and look it up, but they're always a bit out of date.-jennifer

It might be different in the US to the UK or Europe... but I tend to not tip the owner of a salon, but I will tip the shampoo girls, or the stylist if she is not the owner. At Xmas though I would probably give an extra treat and then I would tip the owner at this point. The amount though I am never sure on - should it be a per centage of the total bill, or a fixed amount? Or at Xmas is a small gift like chocolates preferred to money? Any advice on this one as well?Paul

I thought you would defintely know what we should do. Do you tip 15% like you would at a restraunt? I always tip about $5.00 on a $30.00 haircut. If I get highlights or a perm which costs atleast $55.00 I tend to tip around $10.00. My husband said he heard, you are not suppose to tip a hairdresser because they set their own prices usually. Help us! We need to know what to do.Thanks,Jenn H.
