Cher,I'm really young which means I hardly have any control in our house and I want an oil treatment, the nearest salon or hair care store is 30 miles away. O.k how do you do this and also I think you're supposed to use heat on it, do you HAVE to??? You know a lot about these kinds of things so can you give me a couple of tips or instructions or something?? Thanks a lot.

You can buy pure jojoba oil from a healthfood store or buy Aveda's Beautifying oil. It doesn't have to be heated but it does do a nice job if you do. You take your dry hair and gradually start from the front and work the oil through your scalp and then through the length of your hair. Get your hair oily but not necessarily saturated. Just greasy! You can then apply warm towels. You can dampen a towel and then heat it in your microwave. Or while relaxing in the tub..you can take the towels and heat them in hot water, wring, and then put it back on your head..but this is harder on your hands then using the microwave. It's not necessary to use heat, like I said.. you can use the oil on a day when you are going to be home all day.. put it on and make a bun or a braid if your hair is long enough(if not, you may want to cover your head with a cap)..and go on with things around the house. I have left it on for as long as 24 hours. Once, when we went sightseeing in the country at a plantation.. I put oil on the length of my hair but not my bangs. I slicked it all back into a bun and feathered up my bangs.. It gave me the slicked back look..and a day of conditioning while I was out having fun. After you leave the oil on for the desired time.. give your hair a good washing. Sometimes it will take 2 shampoo's to remove the greasy feeling. I do not put as much oil on my hair now that it is in much better shape, and it only takes 1 shampoo to remove the oil. I do this once a month. I would only recommend this kind of treatment if your hair is on the dry side. Since I have been doing this, my scalp no longer gets the flakes. If you can afford Aveda..I would recommend that more than the pure jojoba. It's not as thick and spreads nicer. It lasts a long time, believe me. I hope this helps you.. cher> Cher,> I'm really young which means I hardly have> any control in our house and I want an oil treatment,> the nearest salon or hair care store is 30 miles> away.
