I have realy long hair. I need to get it cut but I don'twant to cut it all off. I need to find a place that will give me ideas for realy long hair. Most sites I've seenthat say long hair show hairstyles for just below the shoulders. I would like to keep it at least to my waist. So if anybody knows where I could look that would be great.

Hi,I am currently working on an article on how to wear hair in different styles for long hair. I have hair that is to my butt at this point. Many of the women that visit Hair Talk have hair much longer. Dawn...who does the hair jewelry...has hair to her knees and Tamara has very long hair.I am writing an article...as is Tamara...on different hair styles for really long hair. One thing that I have found with my hair is that I wear the front in a graduated "shag" that blends the bangs and sides with the back. That way I can have hair around the front of my face that is softly layered and gives me options on how to spike my bangs or wear them textured. That allows me to keep my long hair long without any danger.I just purchased 3 fabulous books on styling long hair. The review for one is finished and shows 3 style from the book. That review should be posted as soon as our ISDN stops misbehaving. Also, Tamara's story has some great hairstyles for long hair.Check it out at:http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip045.htmAlso...check out Valentine's instructions on rag curls which I have tried in my own hair and it looks great.http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip049.htmA book that has some great styles for long hair is 388 Hairstyles that you can read about in our book section:http://www.hairboutique.com/books/bookreview079.htmKeep checking back. I am working on providing information on styles for butt length - knee lenght hair. Also, we are working on reissuing Tamara's styles so that they are large pictures to show the details of the braids.Best wishes,Karen> I have realy long hair. Whoa, I was just getting through a backlog of messages here and this one caught my eye, am I reading this right? You have knee length hair and you want to cut it to your waist? Ok, the first question would be, like Cher said, why? The second response would be that Karens ideas are a super, super place to start before you make that big leap and cut. Your hair must be unbelievably beautiful so just think carefully about your motivation before you take the big step and then if you do decide you want a change take Laura Jane's wise advice and do it in slow little increments, one, two inches at a time with a bit of a rest between each to reflect on what you've done. You can always keep going, but its way hard to go back once its cut. Is it getting in the way too much? Other people bugging you that it gets too much attention? Ok, try some hairsticks, updos, get or make some new accessories. Try six or eight hairties down the length of it, wrap your braid up in the figure eight like Tamara does, practice some twisty buns or French twists (ok, with your length its a double twist but still....), try some new barrettes, move your part, try wearing your hair up for a while and I'll bet you'll feel better about it when its down. Have you been to The Long Hair Site? Or The International Long Hair Club? (Check Karen's links) You'll find tons of avid responses there about why you shouldn't cut it at all. Heck, maybe you just need some new shampoo and conditioner to feel better.Good luck whatever you decide. Just go slowly, try everything else first before you cut and trust yourself, not what others tell you.Very best wishes to all!DawnI have realy long hair.
