Can anyone tell me if Artec's smoothing serum is suppose to be used like Aveda's Phomollient? I have some gray hairs on the sides of my head that are in the process of growing longer and they need to be tamed with some kind of goop. I love Phomollient.. but tonight while shopping in Penney's I saw the entire Arftec line there. I saw the smoothing serum and before I buy it I wanted to ask if anyone's used it and what exactly does it do for them?Thanks.. Cher~
Hi Cher!I have naturally curly hair and I use the ARTec Smoothing Serum in combination with a dollop of ARTec Volume Gel. I also like the Smoothing serum for when I am blowing my hair staight-- it really makes the brush glide through easily. It doesn't have enough holld for me to use it without gel, and I consider it more of a frizz buster!Sherry~> Can anyone tell me if Artec's smoothing serum is> suppose to be used like Aveda's Phomollient? Hi Cher,The ARTec smoothing serum does a terrific job of taming those shorterwavy/wiry replacement hairs at the top of my head. But the rest of thelength of my hair doesn't need this assistance -- and it does not benefitfrom the use of this product. So for me, it works very well for tamingthose unruly hairs you spoke of. Good luck!Dave

Do you have any problems with the smoothing serum making your hair dirty quicker? Thanks for the feedback.. Cher~
Hi Cher,Yes, I would say that the smoothing serum seems to make my hair getdirty more quickly. Some of the leave-in products that I have used(and the list is short) have had this tendency, but ARTec's texturecreme is not one of them (it leaves my hair shiny, shiny, shiny).I only use the ARTec smoothing serum in humid weather and it has notbeen humid here lately.Dave
So, what does the Texture creme do? Thanks for being so super about answering all my questions!!! I am being fickle because I cannot use Artec's smoothing conditioner. It makes my hair totally limp and icky & I am just wondering if the serum will do the same plus make it dirty faster which you have stated it does for you. Maybe I should just stick with my Phomollient.. thanks Dave.. you are great about quick responses.. :-) Cher~> Yes, I would say that the smoothing serum seems to> make my hair get> dirty more quickly. I use it to combat frizz mostly, or sometimes to blowdry straight. For me, its cuts down on frizz more than anything else I have used, but it sacrifices shine. It doesn't have enought staying power to tame my growing out hairs. As for making hair dirty. The day I use it is there is no problem. But the third day without shampooing it looks very dirty, dusty actually. If you wash every day you might not have a problem. I only wash once or twice a week, so for me its a problem, and thus I don't use it often.
Cher,This may be a case of "different products for different heads of hair."The ARTec smoothing conditioner worked great for me, did not make myhair limp or "icky." On the contrary, my hair became more full, andvery soft and shiny. The point is that I don't know if we can predictwith accuracy whether or not the ARTec texture creme would work for you.Perhaps if you buy some from a salon that would allow you to return it(if you were not satisfied after several uses), it could be a risk-freeway to find out if it works for you. Good luck.Dave
