I'm interested in knowing the opinions of those that have used the Alterna line, particularly the Hemp Seed *shine* shampoo and conditioner in the orange bottles, and the straightening balm in the purple aluminum tube? I have naturally straight hair that I blow dry with a round, metal brush and am looking for products that will provide shine, body, and hold, and the straightening balm was recommended(even though my hair is already naturally stick straight). I've used Artec's Smoothing Serum, and though I like the feel and shine it gives my hair, it just doesn't provide enough hold or body. Thanks for any help you can give!Kara
Hello, I guess I would be a good person to respond since I carry the full Alterna line in my Salon. The shine sha. is similar to a mild clarifying shampoo therefore it is especially good if a person has challenges with hard water or chlorine. It works real nice on fine textured hair. I don't see it make phenominal shine though. If you are looking for very specific "shine, body, and hold, I would recommend something in a different line. Have you ever heard of PATIVA? They make a styling product called "custom blending" containging 3 elements mixed by stylist according to your hair type/neads. Those elements are: Body, Hold, and Shine. It is a liquid non aerosol mousse. I find it to be very effective. The reason I carry Alterna is because of it's enzymes. The shampoos and conditioners seem to work so well and I get phenominally good feedback and people continue to buy it. The creme gel and shine catalyst are two of my favorites. The shine catalyst is similar to ARtek's texture cream. For example, you might apply the creme gel to the root area of you hair and then the shine catalyst to the ends. That would probably do more for your body, hold and shine than the straightening balm would. Email me if you have any other questions re. Alterna since their web site is being re-vamped again.Related Link:Pony Tails
