Permanent for an 8 year old

Can someone tell me at what age children should be before they can get a permanent. My 8 year old daughter would like one but I'm afraid it won't take or even worse it will fry her hair. Her hair is dark blonde, slightly wavy and medium to thin.

A couple of reason one is the body if still going through chemical changes at a young age so garenting a perm is impossible. Most times they come out fine but you always take a chance. Another is is your daugthers hair long? If it is then its the same price as an adult with the same length of hair. Long haired perms are expensive! And time consuming can your daughter sit well for a couple of hrs? What about the strong chemical smell? And if you ever had a perm your self sometimes it burns a litte, will she be ok if it burns here scalp a little?The last thing how well will she take care off the perm once its in? By not brushing it and using a pick comb and get a trim to help keep the ends from bracking. Its also possible for the perm to lighten her natural hair color something to be aware of.Just some questions to ask your self from someone who had to deal with young girls and perms. The best of luck to you!!Diane K.Ps. Be careful with naturaly wavy hair. Sometimes it takes a curl very fast and shrinks the hair. When I perm my own hair I must use the largest rods because my hair grabes that curl! It shrinks down about 2 sizes smaller than the actual rod size. But thats just my hair. Good luck!

Thanks for> your help.Lynn,If your daughter does have her hair permed I would advise you to make sure its cut either right before the perm or emidiatly after. (Even if its a half inch.) Them make sure to have a trim every 6 to 8 weeks to help keep it from getting frazzled ends. A strand test is the best way to go but as I said before theres no gauranties. Just my opionon but your daughter is very young she has lots of time for perms. To me (my poionon agian)is it worth having her hair fryed and frazzled?
